Long Time No See . . .

I started Visible Grace over two years ago, long before I knew I would attend Syracuse University, and eventually use this site to fulfill a requirement for a course. At that time, a good friend of mine had just started blogging, and she swore by it: she was/is a young mother and was/is read by others with childrearing tales to tell.

Originally in 2005, I wrote that these posting would be about "me" -- well, I didn't get very far! In the meantime lots happened to "me", and now I am here again!

As the rain falls outside, and my son writes a three page paper left to the last minute, I renew my commitment to these pages. According to my syllabus, postings will focus on 1 : 1 computing and clickers.

In addition, readers may find musings about the environment (I bike to work each day). the garden, good soups, teaching and being taught, and good books --- for starters.

Welcome, back.

Hi Julie-

As you can see, I figured out how to view your blog after all! Your writing is very deep and self-revealing, I know I will look forward to reading what you have to say this summer. I am amazed that you began this blog 2 years ago and can't believe how the time has passed so quickly since his death. What made you stop writing?

Hi Julie-

It's ironic that your blog is back after two years! You're a good writer- perhaps this is a good forum for you after all!

I'm looking forward to learning about computing and clickers- should be interesting.

Though I must say, I'm almost more curious about how your commute is on your bike. Where are you starting from...where do you bike to? Do you bike in all seasons? And, I'd like to see some of your soup recipes. It's awful...I LOVE to read recipes, but I hate to cook. I have no idea what that makes me! A frustrated chef perhaps.

Thanks for writing Beatrice and Kate! I am getting so confused, though, should I write back to you here, or on you blog -- I think I write here to others can participate in our discussion (very Web 2.0!). Thank you, also for your encouragement for me as a writer. I am a very faithful journal writer, and a friend of mine suggested blogging. So, I started but did not keep it up -- although I did get a response or two. I guess I wasn't ready, so here I am again.

As for biking, I ride 4 miles each way from my home in Holliswood, south to my school in Jamaica. It takes me about 20 minutes each way. I adore getting to school after a "workout" -- it's an easy one because it's basically downhill. Homeward is a challenge, but one that works out the kinks of the day. My students think it's amazing that Ms. Matz can ride a bike, and then carry it in one hand and bring it into the school . . . I love their reaction!
